This course is designed to utilize the information learned in literacy courses 221, 376, 332 and 335. Students are expected to observe literacy-related approaches and best practices within a field-based classroom for 30 hours. Observations will focus in the areas of literacy: comprehension, writing, word attack, vocabulary, using technology to enhance literacy, organizing the classroom for literacy, and assessing literacy lessons and activities. Students are required to teach two literacy classes under the supervision of the classroom teacher and a college supervisor. The administration of an informal reading inventory to a student is required. A case study of the data derived from the informal reading inventory for the student must be completed to provide evidence of the ability to analyze data and inform intervention.
