This course is a multisensory approach to intensive, structured literacy instruction. Based on current research in the science of literacy and explicit strategies to meet complex demand of teaching phonological, alphabetic, semantic, syntactic systems of oral and written language, this course provides an understanding of the complexities involved in literacy knowledge with the methods and techniques to result in informed literacy instruction and remediation for a wide range of students from beginning readers to adult readers. Emphasis on bilingual instructional skills, aiding the learning disabled students by planning multisensory structured language lessons through word learning, vocabulary development, expressive language, writing and study skills.
